Shull Leads The Way As Wings Split Series

ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana- Starting pitcher AJ Smouse went seven strong innings, earning his first win (1-0) of the year. As RGV (3-5) hit past Alexandria (3-5) 6-3 Friday night at Bringhurst field.

Alexandria led off the first inning with a Zack Cadet single, then with one out in the inning Nick Mahin singled to right field scoring Cadet giving Alexandria an early 1-0 lead.

RGV's Albert Carpen led off the top of the fifth with a single up the middle, opening the door for Thomas Shull. Shull then belted a two run home run over the right field wall tying the game at three runs even.

Ryde Rodriguez and Justin Juneau continued the five run rally as RGV was able to hold on from there as RGV got their third win of the year.

RGV improves their record to three wins, splitting their first road series at two games even.

RGV racked up 14 hits scoring six runs. Michael Garcia had a solid night at the plate collecting three hits, along with Albert Carpen who also tallied three hits going 3-for-5 on the night.

RGV heads back home to Harlingen field, where they host a four game series versus the Texas Thunder this will be the first series of a 12 game home stand for the WhiteWings. First pitch is set for 7:05 tomorrow night at Harlingen field.
