Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (1-1) squandered an early lead, and ultimately lost their first game of the season, 7-3, to the Biloxi Shuckers (1-1) on Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
Zach Lee, the former LSU quarterback recruit and Los Angeles Dodger/San Diego Padre, made his Butter and Blue debut, and pitched well going four innings and allowing just two runs on five hits to go along with five strikeouts and two walks in a no-decision.
Zack Brown countered on the mound for Biloxi, but balked twice in his Double-A debut, which led to one run, and then an RBI-single by Nathan Lukes in the fourth broke a 1-1 tie and put the Biscuits out in front. That lead, however, would be their last of the night.
Troy Stokes Jr.'s RBI-groundout in the fifth would knot things back up at two, and then the center fielder's three-run blast off Austin Wright (0-1) that hooked just around the foul pole in the seventh gave Biloxi the lead for good. The Shuckers would tack on a pair of runs in the eighth thanks to an RBI-single by Dylan Moore and a Dalton Kelly throwing error to make it 7-2.
Montgomery would load the bases in the eighth and ninth, and scratched across a run in the final frame thanks to a bases-loaded walk to Brett Sullivan, but ultimately fell short in the comeback effort when Dalton Kelly lined out to left to end the game.
The Biscuits will try to get back on track on Saturday when J.D. Martin makes his Capital City debut against Kodi Medeiros at 6:05 PM.
