Knoxville Smokies News Release
PEARL, MISSISSIPPI - Friday night's game in Mississippi featuring the Braves and Smokies has been postponed due to rain. The Smokies and Braves will resume play tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. ET in the third inning with Tennessee leading 5-1. The game will be finished as a nine-inning game. The original game scheduled for Saturday night will be played as a seven-inning game following the conclusion of the first game.
Tennessee got off to a fast start Friday evening after losing the season-opener 3-0 last night. In the top of the first, Jason Vosler drove in the Smokies' first run of the season, hitting a sacrifice fly to give the Smokies a 1-0 lead. The Braves responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning, but Tennessee would explode for three runs in the top of the second to take a 4-1 lead.
The Smokies would extend their lead to 5-1 in the top of the third before the game was suspended with two outs in the top half of the inning with Trent Giambrone at the plate.
