Biloxi Shuckers News Release
MONTGOMERY, AL - Shuckers RHP Adrian Houser has been called up to the Milwaukee Brewers, the team announced Friday. This will be his second call up to the big leagues after making his Major League debut on September 26, 2015.
Though he did not throw a pitch for the Shuckers in 2018, Houser logged time with Biloxi in both 2015 and 2016. While with the Shuckers in the team's inaugural year, the Locust Grove (OK) native went 2-1 with a 2.92 ERA in seven starts and was named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week on August 31st.
After the conclusion of the Shuckers 2015 campaign, Houser was one of six players called up to Milwaukee Brewers from the Biloxi roster. He made two appearances for Milwaukee, tossing a scoreless inning in St. Louis against the Cardinals on September 26 and a scoreless inning against the Chicago Cubs at Miller Park on October 2.
He returned to Biloxi in 2016, starting 13 games and going 3-7 with a 5.25 ERA. Following a start in June 2016, he experienced forearm tightness and was eventually diagnosed with a significant partial tear to his ulnar collateral ligament. Houser underwent 'Tommy John' surgery in late July. After missing the rest of the 2016 season and most of 2017, Houser made six rehab appearances for the Arizona Brewers, giving up one run in 8.0 innings. He finished the 2017 campaign with Single-A Wisconsin, appearing in three games with the Timber Rattlers.
Replacing Houser on the Shuckers 25-man roster is RHP Wuilder Rodriguez, who will be transferred to the Shuckers from the Helena Brewers roster. Rodriguez appeared in three games for the Shuckers in 2017 and spent most of the season with Advanced-A Carolina, going 0-1 with a 1.63 ERA in 27 appearances for the Mudcats.
The Shuckers home opener is on Wednesday, April 11 at 6:35 pm against the Mississippi Braves. Single game tickets for the Biloxi Shuckers 2018 season are on sale now and can be purchased at the MGM Park box office or over the phone through Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.
