
Shuckers Offense Headlines 14-2 Exhibition Game Victory over Pearl River

BILOXI, MS - The Biloxi Shuckers earned a 14-2 win over the Pearl River Community College Wildcats in the team's lone exhibition game prior to Opening Day on Friday, April 3, against the Rocket City Trash Pandas. The game marked the fourth consecutive season the teams have met in an exhibition game at Keesler Federal Park.
The Wildcats opened the scoring in the first with an RBI single from Logan Fontenelle, but the Shuckers struck back in the bottom of the frame with a bases-loaded two-RBI single from Matthew Wood, giving the Shuckers a 2-1 lead. They later extended the lead to 3-1 in the third after Blake Burke smacked a 109 MPH, 393-foot home run to left-center. In the fourth, the Shuckers took a 7-1 lead with an RBI single from Jacob Hurtubise, a passed ball and a two-RBI double from Dasan brown to right-center. The Shuckers then scored seven runs across the final three innings, winning the game 14-2.
On the mound, Jaron DeBerry (2.0ip, 0er, 1k) and Manuel Rodriguez (3.0ip, 2h, 0r, 0bb, 5k) starred for the Shuckers. Rodriguez earned the win while Wildcats starter Nico Williams took the loss.
After an off day on Thursday, the Shuckers will begin their 2026 campaign at Toyota Field against the Rocket City Trash Pandas. Starters have not been announced for either side. The team will return to Keesler Federal Park for the team's home opener on Tuesday, April 7, against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
