
Shorthanded Stampede Take Down Red Claws

BOISE, Idaho, February 19, 2014 - The Idaho Stampede defeated the Maine Red Claws 122-99 with only one substitute. Idaho was forced to play six players with injuries to EJ Singler, Kellen Thornton and Dallas Lauderdale. Pierre Jackson also sat out due to personal reasons.
Maine started the game on a 13-3 run thanks to two 3-point field goals from Abdul Gaddy and Frank Gaines each. Stampede guard Kevin Murphy carried the team with seven points in the first quarter as the Red Claws led 31-27. Maine guard Frank Gaines continued his hot shooting with two more 3-pointers in the second quarter as Maine pushed their lead to 58-52 at the half.
Idaho scored eight straight points to start the third quarter with Dee Bost and Derrick Caracter scoring four points each. The Stampede went on to outscore Maine 37-19 in the quarter to take an 89-77 lead into the fourth. After Maine guard Tyler Brown made a lay-up, the Stampede went on a 25-0 run to extend their lead to 114-79 with 5:08 remaining in the game. Bost led the big run with nine points and two assists. The Stampede went on to finish the Red Claws 122-99.
Frank Gaines led Maine (14-18) in scoring with 28 points. Chris Wright posted a double-double of 27 points and 15 rebounds. Chris Babb pitched in with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Dee Bost recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 29 points and 14 rebounds for the Stampede. Bost, the league's leader in assists, also grabbed seven rebounds. All six players that played for Idaho scored in double figures. Kevin Murphy scored 27 points and Jason Ellis pitched in with 11 points and 18 rebounds as the Stampede outscored Maine 70-41 in the second half.
The Stampede (18-15) travel to Los Angeles on Saturday, Feb 22 for their next game. Maine will visit the Reno Bighorns on Friday, Feb 21.
