PREVIEW: With the offense struggling in Greensboro, the Shorebirds stepped up to the challenge with a 5-0 shutout victory in the finale at NewBridge Bank Park. Luis Gonzalez, Jon Keller and Austin Urban combined for the shutout. Chance Sisco extended his hitting streak to 17 games, matching Trey Mancini for the longest this year by a Shorebird.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: Jake Johansen will start the series opener for the Hagerstown Suns. Johansen has compiled a 5-4 record with a 4.86 ERA for the Suns this season. The right-hander has twice faced Delmarva, both at Municipal Stadium. In a pair of no-decisions, Johansen has al- lowed four runs in 7 2/3 innings. His last time out, Johansen gave up six runs on eight hits to the Lexington Legends. The Nationals selected Johansen in the 2nd round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.

ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles won a rain-shortened contest 3-1 in the series finale on Sunday against the New York Yankees. The win takes the O's into the All-Star Break in 1st place in the AL East at 52-42, 4 games clear of the field. The Orioles had three players named to the All- Star team: Adam Jones, Nelson Cruz and Matt Wieters.

THE IRON IS HOT: 20 out of the 25 players on the Shorebirds active roster appeared for the Ab- erdeen IronBirds in 2013. The IronBirds put together an impressive season, making the playoffs for the first time in their 12-year franchise history. Aberdeen won the McNamara Division in the New York-Penn League with a 40-32 record. The IronBirds lost in the first round of the NYPL play- offs, losing 2 games to 0 against the Tri-City Valley Cats.

GREGORY LORENZO | OF

The Shorebirds outfielder has raised up his game since the All-Star Break. Lorenzo is hitting .298 in 26 games in the second half, compared to .243 in the first half. His on-base percentage is .365, up from .303 in the first half. Lorenzo already has 14 RBIs since the break, which is more than the 11 RBIs he collected in 62 games before the All-Star Game.

WHO'S HOT - GARRETT CORTRIGHT

Since allowing a home run to Trey Michalcze- wski during his Shorebirds' debut, Cortright has not allowed another run. His last appear- ance was one scoreless inning at Greens- boro, now four apps without a run allowed.

WHO ELSE - CHANCE SISCO

The Shorebirds catcher is batting .413 (45- for-109) in 25 games in the second half. Sisco is now 1st in the SAL with a .351 batting av- erage. Sisco is currently on a 17-game hitting streak, going back to June 30th.
