Salisbury,MD: The Delmarva Shorebirds defeated the Suns 4-3 on Friday night. DH Chris Vinyard went 3-4 with a HR for the Birds.Cory VanAllen once again pitched well for Hagerstown. He went 6 innings, surrendering 6 hits on 3 runs. He struck out 6 while walking no one. VanAllen has yet to walk a batter in 20+ innings. Leonard Davis hit his 3rd homerun of the season in the 3rd to tie the came at 1. The Suns added a run in the 4th on a Mike Martinez single to center and one more in the 6th on a Stephen King RBI groundout to plate Brett McMillan who had walked. However, 3 unanswered by Delmarva were enough to take the first game of the weekend series.
On Saturday, the Suns and 'Birds play game number two of their three-game series at Arthur W.Perdue Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35PM. The Suns return home for an eight-game home stand on Tuesday, May 8th against the West Virginia Power @ 6:35PM.
