Spokane Shock News Release
Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that WR Eddie Thompson, OL Shannon Tevaga, and DB Patrick Stoudamire have been added to the 2011 roster. Spokane also released WR Michael Bumpus and OL Tim Walters.
Thompson, 5-10 190, was member of the ArenaBowl XXIII Championship roster. Despite playing in only five games last season due to injury, Thompson recorded four touchdowns and 121 all-purpose yards. Prior to his professional career, Thompson was a four-year starter at Idaho State University and was named to the All-Big Sky Team each of those seasons. As a Bengal, Thompson recorded 219 receptions for 2,401 yards with 23 touchdowns.
"We're excited to have Eddie come back," Head Coach Rob Keefe explained. "He worked hard during the off-season rehabbing his injury and we are excited to see that work pay off this year." Tevaga, 6-3 310, finished his collegiate career at UCLA in 2007. As a Bruin, Tevaga started 41 games and was named a preseason All-American as a junior and senior. In 2008, Tevaga began his professional career with the Oakland Raiders before being released in training camp. This will be his rookie season in the AFL.
"Shannon had a successful college career and his film showed a lot of promise," Keefe explained. "He has good size and knows how to use his body to make it difficult on a defensive line. With his football knowledge and experience, we are excited to introduce him to the game of Arena Football."
Stoudamire, 5-11 203, was a three-time First Team All-Conference selection at Western Illinois University, collecting 134 tackles with six interceptions and 41 passes defended in his career. This past season, Stoudamire began his professional career when he signed with the San Francisco 49ers before being released.
"Patrick has a great upside with tremendous closing speed and natural instinct," Keefe explained. "Those are the kinds of things we can't teach - but we can teach him the game of Arena Football. He has the tools and we will give him the knowledge he needs to be successful."
This will Stoudamire's rookie season in the AFL.
