PHILADELPHIA (February 21, 2011) - The Philadelphia Soul players, coaches, and media welcomed Mike Brown (5-10, 185, Charleston Southern) as a member of the family back to the `City of Brotherly Love.' Today marked the last day of camp without pads for the players as the hitting, position battles, and energy level will continue to intensify.
WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU The highlight of the day took place on Brown's third play during scrimmages where he intercepted a QB Ryan Vena pass intended for WR Dominique Thompson. Brown jump in front of Thompson and finished the play with a run into the end zone. In Brown's three prior years with the Soul (2006-08), he recorded 132 tackles, 46 assists, 13 pass break ups, 15 interceptions, two forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries, along with 140 returns for 2,770 yards and six touchdowns in 38 games.
DID YOU KNOW Soul Special Teams Coach Jack Klebe coached Soul Co-Majority Owner and former Philadelphia Eagles stand out quarterback Ron Jaworski at Youngstown State University in Ohio (1971-74). Klebe was also an assistant coach at West Chester (2002-09) and Widener (1995-2001), and has coached both football and wrestling at multiple high schools in the greater Philadelphia area.
