SAN JOSE (February 21, 2011) - The SaberCats today announced the additions of DL Francis Maka and DB Raphael Whitfield. The team also placed WR Joel Filani, DL Shemiah LeGrande, DB DeAndre Wright and WR Rodney Wright on the refused to report list.
DL FRANCIS MAKA
Maka (6-2, 250) spent the 2010 season with the Arkansas Diamonds of the Indoor Football League. Prior to his time with Arkansas, he played two seasons at Hawaii, where he totaled 27 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two passes defensed in 16 games for the Warriors. Maka joined Hawaii after transferring from the College of San Mateo.
DB RAPHAEL WHITFIELD
Whitfield (5-9, 185) joins San Jose after last playing for West Texas A&M University. Whitfield originally played for the City College of San Francisco, before transferring to West Texas A&M in 2005.
