Command Training Camp Starts

February 21, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Kansas City Command News Release

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The return of Arena Football to Kansas City began early Sunday morning as players filed into the equipment room and were issued the tools of their trade. Most of the day was spent on similar administrative tasks: welcoming the new team members, assigning interim jersey numbers, and setting expectations for the season.

The real work, however, begins today. The players were shuttled over to KU Med Center for their physicals shortly after breakfast and will be there until noon. Head Coach Danton Barto will be putting the team through the first of their grueling practices this afternoon, on the freshly laid field at Sprint Center. Practice begins at 3 PM, and the players' first day with the Command will come to an end at 8:45.

About the Kansas City Command - After a two-season hiatus, the team formerly known as the Brigade is bringing the fast-moving, hard-hitting excitement of Arena Football back to Kansas City for the upcoming 2011 season. Originally granted a franchise in Jan. 2006, the Kansas City Brigade quickly established a reputation for the unique blend of football and entertainment - welcoming sellout crowds of more than 12,000 fans. In the 2008 season, the Brigade moved their home games to Sprint Center, Kansas City's award winning downtown arena, bringing action packed indoor football to capacity crowds.
