
Blaze Add Six-Foot-Five Receiver in Preparations for Camp

SALT LAKE CITY -The Utah Blaze are pleased to announce the signing of WR John Cooper (6-5, 220, Marshall) to the 2011 training camp roster. Cooper joins the Blaze after playing for the Bloomington Extreme of the IFL. He was the Extreme's top offensive threat during the 11 games in which Cooper played. He finished the 2010 season with 54 receptions for 552 yards, and eight touchdowns.
"Cooper's experience in the indoor game will be a great asset as we enter training camp," said Head Coach Ron James. "He is a very versatile athlete that will provide great depth to our team."
As a professional indoor football player, John Cooper has played in 103 games, recording 396 receptions for 4,525 yards and 72 touchdowns. Cooper played with the Ohio Valley Greyhounds and Lexington Horsemen prior to joining the Extreme in 2010.
Cooper attended Marshall University where he was teammates with NFL players, Randy Moss, Daunte Culpepper, Chad Pennington, Olandis Gary, and Darius Watts amongst others. As a redshirt freshman, his Thunder Herd team won the I-AA National Championship. Marshall University then moved to Division I, and Cooper helped the team to four straight Mid-American Conference Championships and bowl appearances. While at Marshall, Cooper compiled 105 receptions, good for 1,339 yards and eight touchdowns.
