SPOKANE, Washington - The Spokane IFL franchise has signed rookie wide receiver Alex Wheat Jr. to their 2016 IFL roster.
Wheat (WR, 6-5, 220, Coast Carolina) joins Spokane for his rookie season as a member of the IFL. He finished his collegiate career at Coastal Carolina University (SC) where he recorded 17 receptions for 170 yards. He joined the Chanticleers after he graduated from Utah State University in the spring of 2014 where he played his sophomore and junior seasons. Prior to joining USU, he played one season at Palomar Junior College (CA) and earned second team All-southern Conference honors after tallying 47 receptions for 854 yards and 11 touchdowns. Wheat is originally from Alpharetta, Georgia where he played his prep career at Alpharetta High School.
"Alex Wheat Jr. is a very gifted big body wide receiver," said Spokane Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "His ability to get off press coverage and go up and get the ball at the highest point makes him an instant goal line threat."
