Sharp Has Two Hits, But 'Clones Fall 2-1 in Ohio

NILES, OHIO (July 25, 2018) - Despite strong relief pitching, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short Season, Class A affiliate of the New York Mets could not come back from an early deficit in a 2-1 loss to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in the second of a three-game set at Eastwood Field Wednesday night.

BIG MOMENTS

Scrappers starter Juan Mota struck out five over five innings of one-run ball, allowing six hits en route to the victory. Despite allowing several baserunners, Mota stranded four Cyclones runners.

Trailing 2-0, Brian Sharp's RBI single in the third cut the deficit in half.

Relievers Tylor Megill, Adam Hill, and Trent Johnson combined for six innings of scoreless relief, striking out seven. KEY CYCLONES CONTRIBUTORS

Wagner Lagrange added two more hits Wednesday night, recording a .433 batting average (13-30) in his past nine games.

Tylor Megill tossed a career-high three innings, striking out a career-high four.
