Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- Batavia travels out to Centennial Field in Burlington, VT to open up a six-game road trip. The first three games are in Vermont, then the Muckdogs head south for a three game set against the State College Spikes.
That was last night- Demetrius Sims clubbed his first professional home run last night in a 6-5 loss to the Staten Island Yankees. Evan Estes surrendered the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth and handed the Yanks the series win, and gave Batavia their fifth loss in the last six games.
Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has now hits in 13 of his last 16 games. He's tallied 20 hits, one home run and has crossed the plate eight times in that span. He is second on the team with three home runs. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Reynolds Raking- Sean Reynolds has been able to find the power in his bat this season. He currently leads the league in home runs and is tied for the league lead in RBI's and also leads the league in runs scored. He is also the league leader in walks with 23. Reynolds currently stands in second in extra-base hits
Jammed Up July- Batavia's offense has slowed up significantly in the month of July. They have opened up the first half of the month with a 10-13 record, and have scored only 4.2 runs per game. That has taken a decline from the 5.2 runs per game that the Muckdogs were putting up in June.
Close Calls- Batavia has played a total of 38 games this season, 26 of which have been decided by two runs or less. The Muckdogs are 11-13 in those games. Batavia has the fourth best reord in one-run games, and the worst record in two-run games at 2-6.
Beginning from behind- The Muckdogs have had trouble with giving up early leads in ballgames. Batavia has trailed after the fifth inning on 19 different occasions so far this season, and have gone 4-15 in those contests.
Recent Roster Action- On July 26th, Luis Mojica was transferred to the GCL Marlins , and Tyler Kolek was promoted from the GCL Marlins
Marlins Update- The Marlins dropped 10-3 to the Washington Nationals yesterday. The game was tied 3-3 in the seventh until Washington was able to put up seven runs in the final three innings. All-Star catcher JT Realmuto was 3-4 with an RBI double in the loss.
