Wilson Tobs News Release

WILMINGTON, N.C - The Wilmington Sharks closed the first half of the 2012 Coastal Plain League season on Friday night by downing the visiting Wilson Tobs 10-4 at Buck Hardee Field.

Wilmington (16-11) broke a two all tie in the sixth inning as they scored seven of runs against Tobs right-hander Tyler Bolton (L, 1-4). The big hits of the frame was an RBI single from Lloyd Enzor followed by a double from Grayson Atwood before Brad Shaban plated a pair with a single back up the middle and when the dust had settled, the Sharks sent 12 hitters to the plate and had eight hits in the frame as they took a 9-2 and were able to cruise to victory.

Wilson (9-19) tied the score at two in the fifth inning when Joey Hawkins walked to begin the inning and scored on a Harry Slade drag bunt down the third base line.

That would be all the Tobs would get as they could not solve Ross Whitley (W, 3-1) who worked six strong innings allowing just three hits and a couple of runs to earn the win.

Wilson attempted to rally in the eighth inning as they scored two runs off the Wilmington bullpen as Collins Cuthrell delivered an RBI single which scored Joe Costigan and Hawkins flew out to right which plated Gerstenslager however that would be as close as the Tobs would get as they fell to the Sharks 10-4.

The Tobs return home on Saturday night to face the Wilmington Sharks at Historic Fleming Stadium, first pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
