COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Columbia Blowfish topped the Florence RedWolves 4-2 Friday night to end the first half of their Coastal Plain League Season. The Blowfish end the first half with a 17-11 record and in second place of the western division. The RedWolves got things started early scoring a run in the first and second to take a 2-0 lead against Blowfish starter Griffin Jones. Jones went five innings giving up two runs on two hits while striking out seven. The Blowfish tied the game in third with two runs of their own. Joshua Miller scored on a ground ball off the bat of Todd Joyner that the Florence RedWolves first baseman could not handle, allowing Joyner to reach. After advancing to second Joyner scored the second run of the inning for the Blowfish on an Erik Payne RBI double to right centerfield. The Blowfish added the two go ahead runs in the seventh. Jarrod Reed came through with a two RBI triple to right center to give the Blowfish the lead for good. The Blowfish bullpen then shut down the RedWolves lineup. Joel Seddon made his Blowfish debut going two innings giving up no runs on one hit while striking out three. Tucker Ward then pitched the eighth not allowing a hit or run. J.D. Osborne then came in for the save and retired the side in order while striking out two. The Blowfish return to the field on Saturday June 30, in an exhibition game against the USC Alumni team.
