
Sharks Get a Big Road Win over the SwampDogs

Fayetteville, N.C - The Wilmington Sharks picked up a big 4-3 victory over the Fayetteville SwampDogs on the road Friday night. These two teams have played each other tough in the early stages of the 2013 season and did not disappoint once again.
The Sharks struck first in the top of the second inning as Matt Pollock drove a fast ball off the right field fence to pick a big RBI triple and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dylan Bosheers to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead.
Fayetteville came back in the bottom of the third inning to tie up the game, as Mitchell Kranson and Michael Timm picked up back-to-back RBI singles to notch the game up at 2-2.
The pitching was good on both sides as Beau Dees pitched six innings for the Sharks giving up two runs on five hits and was the winning pitcher to pick up his first win of the 2013 CPL season.
In the top of the sixth, the Sharks picked up two more runs this, time an infield RBI single off the bat of John Fidanza and a sacrifice fly from Andrew Amaro to give the Sharks a 4-2 lead. The SwampDogs picked up a run in eighth to cut the Sharks lead down to 4-3.
Seth Lucio came into the eighth inning for a six out save, where he gave up one run and struck out two batters to record his second save on the year. The Sharks return back home Saturday night to take on the Petersburg Generals with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
