Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - A busy week of additions to the ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks concluded with another transaction on Friday, as the team announced that defensive back T.J. Wright has been added to the club's 2012 roster.

The 27-year-old Wright was a three-year starter at Ohio University from 2002-06. After redshirting in 2002, Wright led all Mid-American Conference freshmen with 14 passes defended in 2003. He then notched three interceptions in both 2004 and 2005. As a senior in 2006, Wright earned first-team All-MAC honors as he recorded 59 tackles, 20 passes defended and four interceptions.

One of Wright's biggest games as a Bobcat came against Miami (OH) in 2006. In that contest, the cornerback made seven tackles, broke up two passes and forced and recovered a fumble. That performance earned him MAC East Division Player of the Week honors.

After completing his collegiate career, Wright signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in April of 2007, staying with the club until his release in November. He then spent time with the United Football League's Florida Tuskers in 2009. Wright is a native of Beaumont, Texas.
