Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE, FL- The Sharks are building up their offensive targets for the 2023 season. The signing of Dimitrios Mason and Jordus Smith brings the Sharks receiving corps up to eight. Training Camp is sure to be a battle as the receivers fight for the final spots on the Sharks' roster.

Dimitrios Mason (5'11, 180) comes to Jacksonville from the University of Missouri. He was named one of the SEC's top rookie playmakers after breaking many Mizzou true freshman records in 2016. Mason finished his rookie season with 587 receiving yards, which is the most receiving yards recorded by any Mizzou true freshman. He holds the record for the most catches (47) by a Tiger's true freshman as well. Mason also broke the record for the most receiving yards by a Mizzou true freshman in one game (100 yards), a record that had been held since 1999, after pulling in eight catches for 120 yards against Delaware State.

Jordus Smith (6'3, 205) spent the past two years in the FCF league, a league controlled completely by the fans. FCF (Fan Controlled Football) made its debut in 2021 shocking the world with its technology that allowed fans to call the plays. Smith played on the Beasts, a team owned by NFL legends Marshawn Lynch, Todd Gurley, and Marcus Peters. In his two seasons as a Beast, Smith had 580 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Prior to FCF, Smith attended Nicholl State University, where he played defensive back.
