Shalla's 100th Goal Leads Spirit Past Majors 4-2

This afternoon fans filled the seats of The Dow Event Center to witness the Saginaw Spirit defeat the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors with a score of 4-2. Spirit scoring was spread out amongst 4 players: Vince Trocheck, Josh Shalla, Brad Walch and Michael Fine. Spirit goaltender Clint Windsor defended 30 shots on goal.

Vince Trocheck began the Spirit scoring by firing the puck past Spencer Martin, assisted by Eric Locke and Dalton Young. With thirteen seconds left in the first period, Shalla scored on a power play. Shalla's goal was his 100th as an OHL player. Locke and Trocheck assisted his milestone goal.

After minutes of back and forth play in the second, the Majors scored back to back goals to tie the score 2-2. The first goal was scored by Scott Teskey, while Justin Rasmussen shot in the second. We leave the period remaining tied with the Majors.

At 4:21 into the third Brad Walch snuck one past Martin on the power play for his second goal in two games, increasing the Spirit's lead to 3-2. With just 1:50 seconds left to play, Michael Fine fired off an impressive shot which would prove to be too much for the Majors to overcome. Brandon Saad and Josh Shalla assisted Fine's goal. The Spirit take home the victory by score of 4-2 over the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors.
