Erie Otters News Release
Brampton, ON - The Erie Otters were stifled by the Brampton Battalion Sunday afternoon, as the hosts grabbed a 5-2 win over the Otters.
The Otters broke the ice at the 12:54 mark of the first period as Sondre Olden scored his first goal since October 26. Olden redirected a shot by Anthony Cortellessa through Matej Machovsky for his sixth goal of the season.
Brampton controlled the remainder of the first period as they scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead, outshooting the Otters 19-4 after 20 minutes of play.
The second period was much closer as the Battalion edged the Otters in shots, 9-7. Neither team scored in the middle frame despite two long two-man advantages for the Otters.
Carrick and Brandon Robinson each scored in the third to push the Brampton lead to four, but Liam Maaskant ended the run as he fired a blistering shot from just outside the red line for his third goal of the season at 11:53.
Ramis Sadikov made 37 saves in the loss for the Otters, who were outshot 42-21 by the Battalion.
The Otters return to Tullio Arena Friday night when the Niagara IceDogs come into town for a 7:00 p.m. contest. For tickets, call (814) 452-4857 or go to ottershockey.com.
