SF Bulls Edged by Utah, 2-1

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - The San Francisco Bulls (20-29-1-6) were defeated by the Utah Grizzlies (22-27-3-4), 2-1, Tuesday night at the Maverik Center. Dean Ouellet scored and Yanni Gourde earned an assist in his first game with the Bulls, who failed to draw even with the Grizzlies in the standings.

A scoreless first period saw Taylor Nelson stop 10 shots, while Adam Morrison stopped seven Bulls shots. Neither team was awarded a power play.

Ouellet put the Bulls on top at the 1:57 mark of the second period, Gourde fed Ouellet, who recorded his 24th goal of the season. Peter Sivak earned the secondary assist on the play. The Bulls led 1-0 after 40 minutes.

Utah got on the board at 3:27 of the third period on a 5-on-3 power-play goal by Gaelan Patterson. Moments earlier, the Grizzlies were almost victimized by an own goal into an empty net on the delayed penalty call. The Grizzlies misfired on a pass, sending the puck back into their own zone, but it hit the post and stayed out of the net. Patterson scored with just 2:01 in regulation for the game-winning tally.

Bulletins: The Bulls lost for the second time in regulation when leading going into the third period...Bryan Cameron, Alex Tuckerman and Martin Lee played against their former teams, having been traded last Monday...The Bulls were 0-for-2 on the power play. Utah was 1-for-4 on the man-advantage...The Bulls sit four points back of the Grizzlies, and remain six points ahead of Bakersfield for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
