Tonight's Matchup: The San Francisco Bulls (20-28-1-6) head to West Valley City to take on the Utah Grizzlies (21-27-3-4) Tuesday night. The Bulls begin the third game of their six-game road trip tonight in Utah, then travel to Colorado tomorrow night. Tonight is the fifth of eight meetings between the San Francisco and Utah, with the Bulls 1-3 against the Grizzlies this season. The last time these two met, back in December, Utah edged San Francisco for the win 3-2.
Last Saturday, the Bulls broke even on a two-game set with the Idaho Steelheads with a 4-3 shootout win. Newcomer Tristan King scored in regulation and in the shootout to help defeat his former team. Taylor Nelson was stellar, stopping 40 shots in regulation and all three shootout attempts, earning his first shootout win of the season. Saturday was a night of firsts, as Simon Danis-Pepin and Bryan Cameron also scored their first goals in Bulls uniforms. Rob Kwiet continued his offensive onslaught with his team-leading 24th assist of the season, and T. King also got his first assist for San Francisco.
Earlier today, the Bulls received forward Yanni Gourde from their AHL affiliate, the Worcester Sharks. Gourde has 13 points in 48 career AHL games. Last season, he recorded a league-high 124 points in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and was named league MVP.
The Bulls will face two of their former teammates, Alex Tuckerman and Martin Lee, who were traded to Utah last week. In turn, Bulls forward Bryan Cameron is set to face his former team for the first time since the same trade.
The Utah Grizzlies sit in seventh place with 49 points, just two points ahead of the Bulls going into tonight's game. With 47 points, the Bulls maintain their six point lead on the Bakersfield Condors.
After tonight's game, the Bulls get right back on the road and head to Colorado to take on the Eagles tomorrow night at 6:05 pm PT. Follow along on KNBR.com and AmericaOneSports.com. After tomorrow, the Bulls complete their road trip in Las Vegas before returning home on March 6 to battle the conference-leading Alaska Aces.
