Tonight's Matchup: Tonight, the San Francisco Bulls (2-4-1-0) are back in California for the last stop on their eight-game road trip where they will be taking on the Ontario Reign (3-0-1-2) at Citizens Business Bank Arena. This is the first of 10 meetings between these two teams this season.
Last Saturday, the Bulls were defeated 4-1 in the final game of their three-game series against the Colorado Eagles. The Eagles jumped out to an early lead three and a half minutes into the game. San Francisco quickly found the equalizer on a power play goal from Brett Findlay. He received assists from Chris Crane and Mark Lee. That would be all the Bulls offense could muster, as Colorado would go on to score three more unanswered goals. J.P. Anderson made his debut in net for the Bulls, stopping 18 of 21 shots.
With his team-leading fifth assist on Saturday, Lee extended his point streak to five games. In those five games he has totaled two goals and four assists.
Beyond getting consistent production from Lee and Dale Mitchell, San Francisco is waiting on their offense to hit their stride. Their scoring has been down, but on the bright side, Findlay's goal on Saturday night, his first of the season, was their second power-play goal in as many games.
Ontario is off to a strong start this season, having yet to lose in regulation. Dan DaSilva, back for his second season with the Reign, has set the pace in the early going. He leads the team in assists (10), points (12), and plus/minus (+5).
On Monday it was announced that the Worcester Sharks, the Bulls AHL affiliate, had assigned defenseman Collin Bowman to San Francisco. Bowman has yet to play this season, but in 69 games with the Colorado Eagles last year compiled 34 points (11g, 23a) and 102 penalty minutes in 69 games. In a corresponding move Andrew Eastman was released. In addition, Worcester assigned forward Riley Brace to the Bulls. He has recorded seven points in 13 games with Worcester over the past two seasons. In 2011-12 and 2012-13, he led Mississauga of the OHL in points.
San Francisco is in seventh place in the Western Conference with five points. Ontario leads the Pacific Division, and is in second place in the Western Conference with nine points.
Listen to tonight's action on KNBR.com, or watch at AmericaOneSports.com. Park 77 Bar will also be airing the game live.
With the conclusion of their longest road trip of the year, the Bulls will finally be heading back to San Francisco for their home opener this Friday against the Bakersfield Condors. The game begins at 7:30 pm.
