
Komets Host Nailers Friday for Military Salute Night

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets have completed an early season extended road tour taking a split of the four games played. The Komets gained four points to improve to 2-3-2 and six points after the first seven games of the season.
The road trip started with a three-game set in Las Vegas where the Komets earned four points with two wins against the Wranglers at Orleans Arena before traveling to Evansville where they stumbled 6-3 during a Wednesday morning affair at Ford Center.
Mickey Lang (C) leads the Komets after seven games with six goals and nine points. Scott Flemming (F) and Jace Coyle (D) lead with six assists each. Goaltender Andrey Makarov started each of the three games at Las Vegas Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In his pro debut the Russian netminder completed the three-game set with a 2-1-0 record, 1.34 goals-against average and .957 save percentage.

The Komets return home to host the Wheeling Nailers Friday at 8pm before traveling to Cincinnati for a 7:35pm start Saturday at the U.S. Bank Arena (6,955).
Friday night is Komets/Fifth Third Bank MILITARY SALUTE NIGHT -- The Komets and Fifth Third Bank present Military Salute Night Friday when they host the Wheeling Nailers at 8pm at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Our nation's veterans will be honored with free admission to the game courtesy of Fifth Third Bank. As part of the Veteran's Day weekend celebration, all active and retired military personnel will be recognized. Veterans will receive a free game ticket for any available seat in the building when they show their service I.D. at the Coliseum Ticket Office. Also, the Komets ask that all veterans in attendance Nov. 8 wear their uniform or armed forces hat to the game.
Marathon Friday nights -- Friday nights continue to be Marathon Nights at Komet home games. Fans can take advantage of the buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer for any of the 13 Friday night home games beginning this Friday night when the Nailers visit. Fill-up cards are available at all participating Marathon stations.
Hottest Ticket In Town -- Komet Hockey single game tickets and season tickets for 2013-14 are on sale now. Komet hockey on WOWO, and Xfinity KometCast -- The legendary Bob Chase is celebrating his 61st consecutive season behind the Komet microphone. Fans can follow the action radio rinkside on WOWO Radio AM 1190 and FM 92.3 this Friday night when the Komets host Wheeling at 8pm. Bob will call the play-by-play of Saturday's game at Cinncinati on ESPN Radio AM 1380 due to a scheduling conflict with WOWO. Sound Off with the Komets Monday Nights on 21Alive -- The Komets, 21Alive and title sponsor PHP present Sound Off with the Komets, a live weekly televised sports program each Monday night during the Komet season at 7:30pm on WPTA TV 21Alive. The half-hour show will be televised from Champions Bar and Restaurant in downtown Fort Wayne and will feature highlights, interviews and call-ins as Komet players and personnel serve as co-hosts with 21Alive's Tommy Schoegler. Monday night, Nov. 11, left winger Chris Auger will be Tommy's guest.
THE WEEKEND AHEAD
- Friday, Wheeling Nailers (2-3-1, 5 points) at Komets (2-3-2, 6 points), 8pm -- The Nailers make their first visit of the regular season since their 6-2 exhibition game loss in Fort Wayne Oct. 12. Most of the Wheeling roster has been updated since the preseason and the Nailers are off to a 2-3-1 start after dropping a shootout to the Wings at Kalamazoo Wednesday morning. Friday's game with be the first of three visits by the Nailers and the first of 4 total meetings. The Komets will skate their lone game of the year at Wheeling Wednesday, Dec. 29. Last season the Komets were 0-1-1 in two games against the Nailers.
- Saturday, Komets at Cincinnati Cyclones (6-0-0, 12 points), 7:30pm -- The Komets will face one of the hottest teams in the ECHL when they make the trip to the Cincinnati Saturday. The Cylcones are undefeated (6-0-0) after the first six games of the current campaign. Cincinnati will skate at Kalamazoo Friday before hosting the Komets Saturday. The Cyclones are led by forward Wade Megan who leads ECHL rookies with six assists and 12 points in 6 games. Saturday's game is the second of eight meetings this year since the Cylones stole a 5-4 shootout win in Fort Wayne Oct. 26. It's the first of four trips to Cincinnati for the Komets. Last year the Komets were 4-5-0 overall against the Clones and 2-1-0 at Cincinnati.
