Lancaster Stormers News Release

Brandon Larson and Teuris Olivares both belted two-out, two-run homers in the bottom of the seventh Wednesday evening as the Somerset Patriots defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers for the third straight night, 10-5.

Leading, 5-4, entering the bottom of the seventh, Michael Nannini (1-3), who picked up the game in the third, allowed a one-out base hit to Gera Alvarez. He got Michael Ryan to pop out to second base and worked the count to 2-2 on Larson. The Patriots third baseman reached out and sailed the next pitch over the right field wall, the opposite field homer giving Somerset a 6-5 lead. Josh Pressley scorched a single up the middle and Olivares followed with a homer to left, his first of the year, to put the Patriots up by three.

The Barnstormers had struck for four runs in the fifth inning. Lloyd Turner greeted Jim Magrane with a leadoff homer to left, his second long ball of the season. Juan Francia was hit by a pitch, then with one out, Danny Gonzalez walked. Brian Stavisky singled to right, cutting Somerset's lead to 4-3. Ian Bladergroen followed with a two-run double, putting the Barnstormers ahead.

Matt LeCroy, in his first at bat in 18 days, singled home a run in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead, but Ryan, another former Twin, tied the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the inning. Somerset scored three runs on ground balls over the next two innings for the 4-1 lead.

Jason Richardson (5-0) notched his third win against the Barnstormers in the last four meetings between the two teams, tossing 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two.
