Ogden Raptors News Release
The Ogden Raptors used seven errors from the Missoula Osprey and scored seven unearned runs in a 9-7 win Monday night at Lindquist Field.
Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, the Raptors used an error to help tie the game. Julian Leon reached on a fielding error by second baseman Henry Castillo to start the inning. After a wild pitch moved Leon to second, Justin Chigbogu struck out. Ivan Vela then singled and got to second on a throwing error by right fielder Stewart Ijames to put runners on the corners. After a strikeout from Theo Alexander, Brian Wolfe hit a two-run single to center to tie the game 2-2.
Trailing again 4-2 after a home run by Sergio Alcantara, the Raptors used another error to take the lead in the fifth. Devan Ahart singled to right to begin the inning. Mike Ahmed then hit a grounder to third baseman Fernery Ozuna that hit off his chest for an error. Cody Bellinger then followed with a two-run double to center and advanced to third on the throw to the plate. Two batters later, Bellinger scored on a passed ball to give the Raptors a 5-4 lead.
The Raptors broke the game open with four runs in the sixth that were helped by two more errors. Alexander began the inning with a solo homer to right, his third of the season. Wolfe then doubled down the right-field line. Jimmy Allen then hit a grounder to shortstop. Alcantara tried to throw out Wolfe at third, but the throw was missed by the Ozuna for another error. Allen scored and Ahart reached first base. Ahmed then chopped one in front of home plate and was thrown out by the pitcher Derek Cape. Ahart moved from first to third on the out and scored two batters later on a wild pitch, putting the Raptors ahead 9-4.
Ahart's fifth-inning single extended his hitting streak to 14 games. The streak ties Chigbogu's 14-game hitting streak for the longest by a Raptor this season. Chigbogu hit safely in the first 14 games this season.
The Raptors and Osprey continue their four-game series Tuesday. J.D. Underwood takes the mound for Ogden against Yefrey Ramirez. Game starts at 7:00 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
NOTE: Former Raptor Carlos Frias made his Major-League debut Monday night with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Against the Angels, Frias pitched two scoreless innings, allowing a hit to Albert Pujols and striking out Howie Kendrick and Garrett Richards in the eighth and ninth innings.
