Huge Third Inning Dooms Owlz
August 5, 2014 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release
The Owlz lost to the Great Falls Voyagers, 5-1, on Monday night in the first game of a four game series.
The Voyagers got on the board first with a solo home run in the first inning by Jake Peter.
A big third inning by the Voyagers was too much for the Owlz to over come. The Owlz gave up four runs in the inning, which included a triple by Jake Peter with the bases loaded.
Fran Whitten scored the Owlz only run of the night on a solo home run in the fourth inning.
After giving up five runs earlier in the game the Owlz pitching staff held the Voyagers scoreless. Austin Robichaux, Jeremy Rhoades, Christopher Ellis, and Ramon Rodriguez all saw time on the mound tonight and struck out 11 batters between them.
On a night when the Owlz struggled offensively RJ Santigate got on base three times with two walks and a single to left field.
The Owlz will play game two with the Voyagers on Tuesday night at 7:00. That game can be heard on audio.oremowlz.com.
