Sens Shut Down in Series Opener at Altoona

The Altoona Curve shutout the Harrisburg Senators 4-0 Monday night at PNG Field. Carter Kieboom's one out single in the first was Harrisburg's lone base hit of the night.

The Curve jumped to a 1-0 lead in the second when Christian Kelley doubled home Bralin Jackson, who singled to start the inning.

Altoona scored another pair of runs in the third on an RBI single by Logan Hill and sacrifice fly by Jackson to expand the lead to 3-0.

Senators starter Logan Darnell (3-4) allowed three runs on eight hits across five innings.

Kaleb Fleck, the Altoona, PA native, followed with a perfect sixth and seventh.

Altoona scored their final run in the eighth on a run-scoring double play by Logan Hill against Ronald Pena who was making his Senators and Double-A debut.

Curve starter Mitch Keller (9-2) worked eight shutout innings, limiting the Senators to one hit and two walks while striking out six. Montana DuRapau pitched a scoreless final inning to finalize the 4-0 victory.

The Senators have been shutout an Eastern League high nine times this season.
