ALTOONA, PA - The Curve fell victim to the Harrisburg Senators (AA-Washington Nationals) 9-3 Friday night in game two of a four game series at Blair County Ballpark.
Harrisburg scored five runs in the sixth inning to break the game open highlighted by Edgardo Biez's RBI triple. Senator's 3B Joel Guzman hit his ninth home run of the year in a 2-for-4 night while shortstop Freddie Bynum went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Pirates No. 3 prospect Jose Tabata extended his career high hitting streak to 11 games after going 2-for-4 and driving home two runs for the Curve. While No. 1 prospect Pedro Alvarez continued his offensive surge with another multi hit game going 2-for-4.
Mike Crotta (4-5) takes the loss for the Curve after tossing 5.0 innings and allowing six runs on 11 hits. Clint Everts (1-1) picked up his first win of the season out of the bullpen. Everts went 2.0 innings allowing two runs on five hits.
Altoona (34-59) looks to rebound Saturday night in game three of four against the Senators (39-52). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with radio coverage starting at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network. Probable starters for Saturday are RHP Derek Hankins (1-2, 4.13) for the Curve and RHP Erik Arnesen (5-3, 3.42) for Harrisburg.
Saturday will feature an appearance by the Inflatemaniacs in their second trip to Blair County Ballpark this season.
