New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - With the Summer weather finally upon us, the determined New Britain Rock Cats will be raising the curtain on the second half of their 2009 Season next Monday night (7/20) at New Britain Stadium. At 7:05 PM that night, the ‘Cats will kick off their 8th homestand of 2009 with a very compact 5-games-in-4-days series with our neighbors from the north - and the Eastern League affiliate of the American League's Boston Red Sox - the talented Portland Sea Dogs. The Sea Dogs from Maine are, of course, a tough Northern Division foe - and one that is striving mightily to move up in the standing to secure a 2009 Postseason berth. Accordingly, this will also be an important series for the 2nd Place Rock Cats. Five big games over four Southern New England Summer days and nights - this stretch should be fun on a number of different levels! And if all this hardball action isn't enough, there'll also be Motorcycle Night, a Player Magnet Card Set Giveaway, Beach Night with a terrific Rock Cats Blanket Giveaway, Christmas in July, and a High Noon Single-Admission Doubleheader on Tuesday! What a combo: terrific baseball - and great family fun!

The details of all the scheduled action in and around New Britain Stadium for the period between Monday, July 20th and Thursday, July 23rd are as follows:

MONDAY NIGHT, JULY 20th, 7:05 PM: The Rock Cats return to New Britain Stadium on Monday night after starting the 2nd Half of the 2009 Season in Reading, PA with a 4-game series. Awaiting them at the Stadium on Monday night will be the Portland Sea Dogs, EL partners of the Boston Red Sox. Another Northern Division entry, the young Bosox are loaded with prospects and intent on making some noise down the stretch. Beyond the exciting on-field competition, there will be other activities in and around New Britain Stadium on Monday night as well. Monday evening is Motorcycle Night as fans are invited to bring their rigs onto the field for a pre-game ride around the warning track. In addition, our pals at Nationwide Insurance are sponsoring a Player Magnet Baseball Card Set Giveaway for the first 1,500 fans through the gates. We'll also be honored to have our friends from the Connecticut Special Olympics and the International Order of Rainbow Girls joining the festivities that night. And, as its Monday, it's also an occasion when fans - for an

additional $10 - can enter a Stadium Picnic area and enjoy an All-You-Can-Eat All-American Barbeque consisting of Grilled Chicken, Hamburgs, Hot Dogs, Salad, Chips and a Soft Drink. Come early - gates open at 6:05 PM - and come hungry!

TUESDAY, JULY 21st, 12:05 PM DOUBLEHEADER: The ‘Cats and ‘Dogs will go at it again twice on Tuesday with two 7-inning contests starting just after High Noon. These are big games for both clubs as each tries to set the proper tone for the second half of the campaign. It's also another Parks and Rec Day at the Stadium whereby some of the 'Cats' youngest fans get to see their favorite team in action. Another Tuesday staple is being served up by the good people at KRAFT. KRAFT Singles has teamed up with the Rock Cats and other Minor League Baseball clubs to help families get out to the ballpark more often this year. Simply bring a KRAFT Singles package wrapper to the Stadium Box Office - buy one ticket - and get one free, courtesy of KRAFT. This offer will be good every Tuesday from now through September 1, 2009. In the evening, many Rock Cats players are heading over to TD HOMERS in Southington to meet fans, take drink and dinner orders, and break bread with fans at the popular Southington eatery. TD HOMER's will be donating 15% of the restaurant's take on Tuesday to the Rock Cats Foundation. That's definitely a Homer for all involved!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT, JULY 22nd, 7:05 PM: The talented Sea Dogs from The Pine Tree State are back with us again on Wednesday evening for a single game starting at 7:05 PM. It will also be Christmas in July Night at the Stadium as our friends from the Salvation Army will be doing their important work at the gates. Their kettles will be handy and the generosity of Rock Cats fans - particularly in these challenging times - will, as always, be appreciated. Helping out that evening will be our buddies at Best Buy and Dick's Sporting Goods - each will be giving colorfully wrapped presents to randomly selected lucky fans in attendance. And, as its Wednesday, it's also Family 4-Pack Night, whereby families get 4 Reserved Seats, 4 Hot Dogs, 4 Sodas and 4 Popcorns for just $30, courtesy of NBC30 and SBLI. That's value - and fun! Last, but hardly least, we are also pleased to note that we'll be joined on Wednesday night by the local Multiple Sclerosis Society who will be hosting a pre-game Beer Tasting in the open-air Samuel Adams Rooftop Bar and Grill. Those wishing to participate in what will be a fun time for a great cause, will need to pre-register with the Rock Cats (860-224-8383) with a $25 donation. A feel-good bargain!

THURSDAY NIGHT, JULY 23rd, 7:05 PM: The Sea Dogs are back on Thursday night to play the fifth and final tilt of this 5-game mid-week set. There'll be lots going on this night as it's also Beach Night at the Stadium as the Rock Cats join in celebrating one of the other joys of Summer - going to the

beach! Thanks to our friends at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, the first 1,000 people through the turnstiles will receive a very attractive beach blanket. Gates will open at 5:35 PM with live, seasonal music up available up in the Samuel Adams Rooftop Bar and Grill! Where's Gidget, Frankie, Annette, and the limbo pole? And finally, as it's Thursday night, it's also Meet the Players Night, with doors opening early so for fans of all ages to go down to the home dugout for a meet/greet/and photo op with members of the 2009 Rock Cats. This enjoyable opportunity is sponsored by our friends at Guida's Milk & Ice Cream. A little something for everybody!

The New Britain Rock Cats are the Double-A, Eastern League affiliate of the American League's Minnesota Twins.
