Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators were stymied by New Hampshire starter Casey Lawrence on Friday night as the Fisher Cats posted a 5-2 victory in front of 4,855 fans at Metro Bank Park.
Lawrence, a native of McSherrystown, Pa., held the Senators to just one hit in the first six innings. However, with two outs in the seventh, Jason Martinson singled and Drew Vettleson doubled to put runners on second and third. Ricky Hague followed with a sharp ground ball that glanced off the glove of New Hampshire third baseman, Andy Burns, and into left field. Martinson and Vettleson both scored to put the Senators on the board. Overall, Lawrence limited the Senators to two unearned runs on four hits in eight innings of work. Harrisburg would add another run in the ninth as Kevin Keyes singled and two batters later Vettleson lifted his second double into the left-center field gap to score Keyes from first. Vettleson remained stranded at second base when the game ended.
Meanwhile, Senators' starter James Simmons allowed five runs on seven hits in his six innings of work. The right-hander struck out a season-high seven batters in his seventh start with Harrisburg. Left-hander Chris Manno followed with two scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Tyler Herron had a strikeout of his own in a scoreless top of the ninth.
