Harrisburg Senators News Release

Despite a valiant rally in the ninth inning, the Harrisburg Senators dropped Monday's series opener, 6-4, to the New Britain Rock Cats at New Britain Stadium. With the loss, Harrisburg (22-34) extended its season-long losing streak to six games.

The Senators scored first Monday as Pedro Severino singled in Drew Vettleson to put Harrisburg up, 1-0. Severino homered later in the game for his second hit. The homer was Severino's third of the season, and extended his hitting streak to five games. The Senators' backstop then singled in the ninth inning to record his third three-hit game of the season. He was followed by an Adrian Sanchez double, and then came around to score on a Wilmer Difo RBI infield single that cut the Rock Cats' lead to three. Tony Renda walked to load the bases, and Brian Goodwin made it a two-run game with an RBI groundout. Kevin Keyes followed with a walk to reload the bases for Drew Vettleson, who struck out looking to end the game.

Richard Bleier lasted six innings Monday night, but was victimized by a pair of two-run home runs in the second and fourth innings. Bleier allowed five runs in all (four earned), walked none and struck out four. Sam Runion pitched a perfect seventh inning of relief. Abel De Los Santos pitched the eighth inning, allowing a run on two hits and striking out a batter.

The second game of a four-game set begins tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. The pregame show will start at 6:20 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
