Harrisburg Senators News Release
A six-run sixth inning lifted the Senators to a 9-6 victory and a doubleheader split with the Reading Fightin Phils on Wednesday night at Metro Bank Park. Reading won game one, 8-4.
Game one featured four solo home runs from Harrisburg's Jason Martinson, Quincy Latimore, Drew Vettleson and Matt Skole. Unfortunately, Reading was able to score eight runs (four earned) in four innings against Harrisburg's Zach Kroenke. Brian Dupra, Derek Self and Neil Holland all threw a scoreless inning of relief in the loss.
Reading scored four runs in the top of the first on four hits against the Senators' Paolo Espino, but Matt Skole's three-run homer in the bottom half cut the deficit to one. Espino went on to throw six innings while striking out seven to keep the game at 4-3, Reading. In the bottom of the sixth, Oscar Tejeda tied the game with an RBI single. Two batters later, Drew Vettleson smacked a pinch-hit, two-run double to put Harrisburg ahead. Adrian Sanchez added an RBI single before Cutter Dykstra lifted a two-run double of his own to pad Harrisburg's lead. Robert Benincasa allowed a couple runs in the top of the seventh, but Tyler Herron relieved him to pick up his fifth save of the season.
The final game of the three-game set between the two teams will begin at 7:00 p.m. Felipe Rivero will take the mound for Harrisburg against Reading's Severino Gonzalez.
