
Fightins and Senators Split Doubleheader

Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Reading Fightin Phils (54-69) and the Harrisburg Senators (49-73) split Wednesday's doubleheader at Metro Bank Park. Reading won game one 8-4 while Harrisburg took game two by a score of 9-6.
In game one, Aaron Altherr and Sebastian Valle hit back-to-back RBI singles off Zach Kroenke to give the Fightin Phils a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Quincy Latimore hit a solo home run off Aaron Nola with one out in the bottom of the 1st inning to cut the Fightins lead to 2-1.
Jason Martinson and Drew Vettleson hit back-to-back home runs off Nola in the bottom of the 2nd inning to give the Senators a 3-2 lead. Reading battled back in the top of the 4th inning off Kroenke as they scored six runs to take a 8-3 lead. Aaron Nola got the scoring underway as he hit a sacrifice bunt which allowed Edgar Duran to score from third base. Kevin Keyes committed an error on the play. Albert Cartwright hit a RBI single in the following at-bat. Carlos Alonso popped out to third base while Kelly Dugan hit a two run triple in the next at-bat. Jake Fox capped off the inning with a two-run home run.
Matt Skole hit a solo home run off Seth Rosin in the bottom of the 5th inning to inch closer but still trailed 8-4. Seth Rosin (2-2) earned his second win as he pitched two innings in relief of Aaron Nola. Rosin allowed one run off two hits with one walk and four strikeouts. Nola pitched four innings and allowed three solo home runs with six hits given up. He walked one and struck out two batters. Nefi Ogando turned in a scoreless bottom of the 7th inning.
In game two, Peter Lavin and Kelly Dugan hit back-to-back singles off Paolo Espino in the top of the 1st inning. Jake Fox hit a RBI single to score Lavin to give the Fightin Phils a 1-0 lead. Aaron Altherr hit a three-run home run in the next at-bat to give Reading a 4-0 lead.
Harrisburg came right back in the bottom of the 1st inning off Mike Nesseth as Matt Skole hit a three-run home run with one out to score Adrian Sanchez and Cutter Dykstra to cut the Fightins lead to 4-3.
Harrisburg scored six runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take a 9-4 lead. Austin Wright allowed two runs while Colton Murray gave up four runs. Peter Lavin hit a RBI double off Robert Benincasa in the top of the 7th inning to put the Fightins within four runs 9-5. Aaron Altherr added a sacrifice fly to score Lavin and put Reading within three runs 9-6.
Mike Nesseth pitched four innings and allowed three runs off three hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Austin Wright (2-2) took the loss allowed two runs (one earned) in one inning of work. Colton Murray allowed four runs off four hits and one walk with two strikeouts in the bottom of the 6th inning.
The Fightin Phils and Harrisburg Senators wrap up their season series tomorrow evening at Metro Bank Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
