Rock Cats Win 4th Straight, 8-5 over Bowie

New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats defeated the Bowie BaySox 8-5 at New Britain Stadium on Wednesday night. The Rock Cats put back-to-back 4-run innings together to win their second straight series. Reliever Edgar Ibarra earned the win and BaySox starter Nick Addition was tagged with the loss. New Britain Outfielders Byron Buxton and Mike Kvasnicka collided in the outfield in the 5 th inning and both were removed from the game.

The Rock Cats scored the first run of the game on a grounder by Kvasnicka and Tony Thomas and Mike Gonzales followed with RBI singles. The BaySox scored three runs in the 5 th inning to make it a one run game on a 2-out 2RBI single by Mike Yastrzemski, grandson of Red Sox Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski.

The Rock Cats scored four more runs in the bottom of the fifth highlighted by a run scoring single by Matt Koch and Kyle Knudson and Stephen Wickens both got hit by pitches with the bases loaded.

Ibarra allowed a run on one hit in 1.2 innings to earn the win and Jim Fuller pitched 2.2 scoreless innings for his first save.

The Rock Cats will go for a 3-game sweep tomorrow with Pat Dean pitching for New Britain. Anthony Vasquez will pitch for Bowie. Game time at 7:05 PM.
