
Senate Chamber Shuttered by Curve Pitching Staff

CURVE, Pa. - Aaron Shortridge, Dillon Peters, Duane Underwood Jr., and Tyler Samaniego combined for a two-hit shutout as the Curve defeated the Senators, 6-0, on Friday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
It was the second shutout win of the season for the Curve and first at home as Altoona turned another solid pitching performance. Shortridge made his second start for Altoona and delivered four scoreless frames, allowing no hits, and striking out three. Peters followed for the next two innings in his second MLB rehab appearance this week. He allowed the first hit of the game with two outs in the fifth inning and struck out two batters in his one-hit outing.
Underwood Jr. tossed a hitless frame with two strikeouts in his third appearance with Altoona on Major League rehab this season. Samaniego finished the contest with two innings, allowing one hit and striking out one.
Andres Alvarez hit his 11th home run of the season in the win, a two-run shot in the second inning off Senators starter Ronald Herrera. The Curve then recorded five hits in the seventh inning, scoring four runs to cap off the offense. Aaron Shackelford led off the inning with a double and scored on a Connor Scott single two batters later. Brendt Citta scored Scott in the next at-bat with a single, and Matt Fraizer joined him with a single two batters later.
Jared Triolo then knocked an RBI-single to score Citta before Fraizer scored on a passed ball in the next at-bat. Richard Guasch allowed all four runs, with three earned, on five hits. It was the second game in a row with an RBI for Scott and the third win of the week for the Curve.
Altoona continues its six-game series with Harrisburg on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. RHP Aaron Shortridge takes the ball for the Curve, with RHP Ronald Herrera on the mound for Harrisburg.
