Sellout Crowd at Avista Stadium as Indians Fall to Ems

Spokane, WA - The Eugene Emeralds continued their season-long mastery of Spokane with a 9-3 win in front of a sellout crowd of 6,995 fans at Avista Stadium for Yokes $1 Family Feast Night & Lawton Printing Team Photo Giveaway presented by Yoke's Fresh Market and 92.9 ZZU.

After dropping their first game against the Indians this season, Eugene has won six in a row by a combined margin of 33-10 including tonight's six-run thumping. The Emeralds scored once in the second and fourth against Spokane starter Tyler Phillips (3-5) before blowing the game open with three in the fifth. The Indians cut the deficit to 5-3 in the eighth but Eugene salted the game away with four runs against relievers Garrett Brummett and Steven Bruce in the final frame.

Newcomer Anderson Tejeda homered over The Depot in his first career at-bat in Spokane and finished the night 2-for-4. Charles Leblanc continued his hot hitting with a 3-for-5 night as the fourth-round pick now has multiple hits in six of his last 12 games to raise his season average to .296. Todd McDonald added a pair of doubles while Leody Taveras, Seth Spivey, and Darius Day all had one hit in defeat.

The loss dropped the Indians to 9-9 in the second half and 27-27 overall.
