Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced Tuesday that Bob Oliver, the team's Senior Vice President, will be participating in the second annual âBob's Ride for Five' Thursday, July 18 in an effort to raise money for the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Oliver will ride a stationary bicycle outside the MassMutual Center from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in preparation for his second PanMass Challenge - a two-day, 240-mile bike ride for charity - later this summer.
The goal of âBob's Ride for Five' is to raise $5,000 in support of cancer research. Any individuals or companies that wish to make a donation can do so at the event Thursday or at Oliver's fundraising page through the PanMass Challenge website.
"I was truly proud and blessed to have completed my first PMC ride in 2012 and I'm committed again in 2013," Oliver said. "The part that has stuck with me for the past year is the emotional connection I made to the event, the people involved, everyone who donated to my efforts and for truly what it means in the battle against cancer."
The participants of the 2013 PanMass Challenge begin the ride Saturday, August 3 in Sturbridge, Massachusetts and finish Sunday, August 4 in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Oliver will begin his PanMass Challenge Friday, August 2 from his home in Suffield, Connecticut.
