
SeaWoves Dump Fish 8-3

Baton Rouge Kingfish News Release
Despite jumping out to an early lead, and out shooting the Sea Wolves 48-31, the Kingfish fall 8-3 to Mississippi.
The Kingfish jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Mike Renzi slipped past the Mississippi defense and threw the puck past Sean Matile just 2:30 into the first period. Dan Sullivan and Mike Kiesman added the assists.
Travis Lisabeth answered at the 4:10 mark of the period as he beat Jeff Blair on the give and go with Dave Paradise. Stu Pietersma also added an assist on the goal.
Jim Vickers regained the lead for the Kingfish as he stepped right past the Sea Wolves defense and pulled Matile out of his net giving the forward room to snap the puck past the goaltender. Kevin Tucker added an assist on the goal at the 6:19 mark of the first.
Twenty-five seconds later, Steffon Walby tied the game at two as he fired a slap shot off a give-and-go with Patrick Rochon past Blair. Jim Baxter also added an assist on the goal.
Mississippi took its first lead of the game when Jeff Hutchins intercepted a Kingfish breakout pass in the slot and beat Blair on the quick shot. The unassisted goal came at the 9:13 mark of the first period.
Sergi Kuznetsov extended Mississippi's lead to two goals two minutes later as he slipped the puck past Blair. Kent Davyduke added and Mike Scott added the assists on the goal.
Mike Scott gave the Sea Wolves a 5-2 lead on the power play 3:50 into the second period. Davyduke and Baxter each added their second assists of the game on the goal.
Twenty seconds later Garnet Jacobson rolled the puck up over Matile's pad during a scramble in front of the Mississippi net to cut the Sea Wolves lead to three. Mike Martiniello and Jim Vickers added the assists on the goal.
Davyduke regained the three-goal advantage for the Sea Wolves with 29 seconds left in the period on a breakaway. Austin Miller and Kuznetsov added the assists on the goal.
Mississippi added two goals in the third, the first at the 13:17 mark of the period on the power play as Scott stuffed the puck past Blair off the cross ice pass from Davyduke. Rochon also added an assist on the goal.
Darryl Campbell made it 8-3 on another breakaway against Blair at the 15:51 mark of the third. John Evangelista added an assist on the goal.
