Greensboro Generals News Release
GREENSBORO GENERALS
The Generals defeated the Augusta Lynx 3-1 at home last night. Following a scoreless first period, Augusta drew first blood on a Phil Roy score. But the Genrals quickly responded to even the score with Mark Turner banging home a rebound of a Geno Parrish shot. Jay Murphy turned the momentum in Greensboro's favor by stealing a clearing attempt and slapping home the eventual game-winning goal with just four seconds left in the second period. Bryan Richardson tacked on a third period tally, while Daniel Berthiaume made 36 saves to earn the victory.
COLUMBIA INFERNO
The Inferno were defeated by the South Carolina Stingrays 2-1 at home last night, snapping a five game winning streak. South Carolina scored both of their goals in the first four minutes of the game, with Dave Seitz and Marty Clapton connecting just 24 seconds apart. Despite only taking eleven more shots on goal for the rest of the game, the two goals stood up, as the Inferno could only muster a third period goal by Chris Pittman out of their 44 total shots. Josh Blackburn suffered the loss for Columbia, stopping only 11 of 13 shots for the game.
