SeaWolves Make It Three Straight Sunday

The SeaWolves made it three consecutive wins as they took down the Akron RubberDucks 6-4 on Sunday afternoon at Canal Park.

In the top of the first inning, the SeaWolves loaded the bases with a single from Jamie Johnson, double from Dixon Macahdo and a Jason Krizan walk. Dean Green grounded into a 3-6-3 double play, scoring Johnson for a 1-0 lead.

The Ducks tied the game against Erie starter Josh Turley in the third. Jake Lowery and Ronny Rodriguez each singled and with one out, Justin Toole singled to load the bases. A wild pitch scored Lowery, tying the game at 1-1.

Akron took the lead in the last of the fourth. Bryson Myles led off with a single and was doubled home by Tim Fedroff for a 2-1 Ducks edge. Lowery doubled putting runners on second and third with no outs. Rodriguez lifted a sacrifice fly to left, plating Fedroff for a Akron lead.

Erie wasted no time tying the game in the top of the fifth. Johnson led off, reached on an error and that was followed by back-to-back singles from Machado and Krizan . Back-to-back sacrifice flies from Green and Corey Jones brought home the tying runs.

Akron regained the lead in the sixth against reliever Bryan Augenstein when Fedroff lifted off a solo home run with one out for a 4-3 Ducks edge.

Erie regained the lead in the top of the seventh. Johnson led off with his second hit of the day and Machado walked putting two on ahead of Krizan . Krizan tripled down the right field line, putting Erie back ahead at 5-4. With one out, Jones singled home Krizan for a 6-4 lead.

Augenstein (4-1) earned the win allowing a run on two hits with no walks and a strikeout in two innings of relief.

Joe Mantily earned his first save tossing a scoreless ninth.
