Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators' offense struggled against Portland once again on Sunday as the Sea Dogs pocketed a 6-2 victory at Hadlock Field.
Zach Kroenke threw 52 of 83 pitches for strikes in his five innings of work. He allowed a solo home run in the first, but posted three consecutive scoreless frames before allowing a three-run fifth inning to the Sea Dogs. Neil Holland pitched innings six and seven, allowing two earned runs on three hits. Robert Benincasa pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
The first run for the Senators came on a Mitch Canham (2-for-3, RBI) sacrifice fly that scored Jason Martinson in the fourth inning. At the time, Canham's RBI tied the game at 1-1 prior to Portland scoring five runs in the next two innings. The next rally for Harrisburg came in the ninth inning as the Senators loaded the bases with no outs. Adrian Sanchez popped out, but Caleb Ramsey knocked in Drew Vettleson (2-for-4) with an RBI single to cut the Portland lead to four. However, the Senators grounded into a double play to end the contest.
The final game of the 2014 season begins tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Portland. The starters for both teams are still yet to be determined. The game can be heard beginning with the pregame show at 12:45 p.m. on 1460 AM or via senatorsbaseball.com, 1460theticket.com or the iHeart Radio app.
