
Baysox Shock Curve in Walk-Off Win

Bowie, Md. - The Baysox scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to rally from two runs down in a walk-off 8-7 win over Altoona Sunday afternoon. The Baysox will play the 2014 season finale at home Monday at 2:05 p.m.
The Baysox overcame four home runs from the Altoona Curve in the first five innings of today's game with the ninth inning rally. Chris Marrero tied the game with a two-out RBI single and Michael Ohlman won the game with a two-out, bases-loaded single two batters later.
Keon Broxton gave the Curve an early lead with a solo home run to center field in the top of the first inning against Baysox starter Anthony Vasquez.
The Baysox came back to take the lead in the bottom of the second inning against Altoona starter Tom Harlan. Marrero hit a lead off double to center field and moved to third base on a K.D. Kang single to right field. Both runners came home on an Ohlman double to left field and Ronald Bermudez followed with another double to left field that plated Ohlman. With one out, Sammie Starr singled to center field to bring Bermudez home and put the Baysox up 4-1.
Altoona got one run back in the top of the third inning. With one out and the bases loaded, Andy Vasquez brought a run home with a sacrifice fly to center field to make the score 4-2.
The Curve rallied to take the lead in the top of the fourth inning. Kelson Brown hit a lead off single to center field and Matt Curry reached on a fielding error by Vasquez with one out. With two outs, Dan Gamache hit a line drive home run to left field that put Altoona up 5-4.
Stetson Allie gave the Curve a 6-4 lead in the top of the fifth inning with a solo home run to left field.
Ralph Henriquez hit the fourth Curve home run of the game to lead off the top of the sixth inning and give Altoona a 7-4 lead. Reliever Mychal Givens recorded the final two outs of the inning for the Baysox.
Bowie got a run back in the bottom of the sixth inning. Kang hit a lead off double to center field and with one out, Ryan Beckman replaced Harlan on the mound. Bermudez then singled to right field to plate Kang and made the score 7-5.
The Baysox won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning against Altoona reliever Collin Balester. Garabez Rosa started the rally with a two-out RBI single that plated Mike Yastrzemski from second base. Buck Britton then walked and Marrero singled to right field to bring Rosa home and tie the game. The Baysox weren't done as Kang then walked to load the bases and Ohlman won the game with a single to left field that made the score 8-7.
Vasquez pitched five and one-third innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on 10 hits while striking out one and walking two in the no decision. Givens pitched two and two-thirds scoreless innings, not allowing a hit and walking one batter while striking out four. Reliever Alexander Santana pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Baysox, walking one batter and striking out two in the win.
Balester took the loss for Altoona, throwing the final one and two-thirds innings and allowing three runs on four hits while striking out one and walking three.
RHP Zach Davies (10-7, 3.38) takes the mound for the Baysox tomorrow as the team plays the season finale against Altoona. He will be opposed by LHP Joely Rodriguez (5-11, 4.75).
The Baysox conclude the 2014 season at home on Labor Day Monday September 1 at 2:05 p.m. with the final Mutt Monday of the season.
