
SeaWolves Down Baysox 9-2

Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves snapped a two-game losing skid, a five game slide to Bowie and a nine game home losing streak with a thrilling 9-2 victory over the Baysox on Wednesday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park.
The âWolves took their first lead of the series against Bowie starter Kyle Schmidt in the bottom of the second inning. Deik Scram and Ryan Roberson connected on back-to-back singles with one out. Max St. Pierre followed and slammed a three-run home run over the wall in left field for a 3-0 Erie lead. Will Rhymes stepped in and connected on his third triple of the season brining Kody Kirkland to the plate. Kirkland connected on a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Rhymes, giving the âWolves a 4-0 advantage.
Spot starter Matt Righter held the Baysox hitless over the first three innings of the game. In the top of the fourth, Lou Montanez singled with one out and he was doubled home by Ryan Finan to cut the Erie lead down to three at 4-1.
The âWolves would go back ahead by four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Kirkland walked with two outs and stole second. Max Leon walked to put a pair on for Caonabo Cosme. Cosme singled home Kirkland for a 5-1 lead.
In the top of the sixth, Bowie made another dent in the Erie lead when Montanez homered for the second time in the series and the eighth time this season off of reliever Juan Cedeno to make it a 5-2 game.
The âWolves would put the game away in the bottom of the seventh against a pair of Bowie relievers. Leon led off the inning with his first triple of the season. Cosme followed and connected on a base hit, scoring Leon, giving Erie a 6-2 lead. Cosme got to second on the play on the throw to the plate. Justin Justice grounded out for the first out of the inning moving Cosme over to third. Wilkin Ramirez followed and was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners. Ramirez was taken out of the game as a precaution and was replaced by Jeff Frazier. Scram walked to load the bases and St. Pierre came up with another big hit when he lined a pitch to left field bringing home a pair of runs. St. Pierre finished the day 2-for-4 with five RBI. Rhymes completed the Erie scoring on the afternoon as he singled home Scram for a 9-2 lead.
Righter (1-1) went five innings, allowing a run on two hits with a pair of walks to pick up his first win of the season.
Cedeno and Casey Fien combined to finished the final four innings of the game. Cedeno gave up a run in two innings while Fien pitched two scoreless, allowing one hit to end the game.
