SeaWolves Burn Pizzas in Tuesday Loss

CURVE, Pa. - Tsung-Che Cheng continued his hot stretch at the plate, slugging a three-run home run in a multi-hit game, but his efforts could not give the Pizza's the win, falling to the Erie SeaWolves, 7-3, on Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
Before Cheng came to the plate, Carter Bins led off the inning with a walk before Claudio Finol followed up with a base hit to put runners on first and second off reliever Blake Holub. Cheng's home run would be his second in Double-A and was his second extra-base hit in the contest. His 15-game hitting streak is the longest active streak in the Eastern League.
LHP Nick Dombkowski was tonight's starting pitcher, tossing 5.0 innings. He allowed three runs on six hits while also striking out three batters. Erie jumped on the board first in the third inning on an RBI-single by Justice Bigbie and added two more off Dombkowski on a Jace Jung RBI-double and Dillon Dingler RBI-single in the fifth.
RHP Grant Ford entered in for relief of Dombkowski in the top of the sixth inning. Ford tossed 2.0 innings in relief, allowing four runs on five hits while also striking out two. The four runs allowed by Ford came off a three-run home run by Dingler and a solo home run by Jake Holton, which both came in the seventh inning.
RHP Tahnaj Thomas came out of the bullpen for the top of eighth inning, allowing one hit and striking out one in 2.0 innings of relief.
Altoona continues their 12 game homestand with The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, with a Wednesday afternoon 12:05 p.m. doubleheader start. Altoona will send RHP pitcher Sean Sullivan to the mound in game one with RHP Justin Meis taking the ball in game two. The SeaWolves have yet to announce their starters.
