The Somerset Patriots fell to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday night at TD Bank Ballpark in the first of the six-game Double-A Subway Series.
RHP Chase Hampton (4 IP, 5 R, 4 H, 4 K) took the loss in his ninth start with Somerset.
CF Jasson Dominguez (3-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2B) extended Somerset's lead to 2-0 with an RBI double in the 2nd, before tacking on an RBI single in the 7th as part of a three-hit day.
Dominguez ends the day with 71 runs scored, which leads the Eastern League. Dominguez registered his team-leading 26th multi-hit game of the season and third straight multi-hit game. The multi-hit performance was also Dominguez's sixth in the last 11 games. o Dominguez extended his season-long hit streak to seven games and on-base streak to 17 games. The Yankees top prospect is now hitting .433 with six RBI in seven August games. Over his last 25 games dating back to 7/7, Dominguez is slashing .355/.425/.514 with 3 HR, 21 RBI and 11 SB.
Dominguez takes sole possession of the team RBI lead with 58 on the season, marking the 4th most in the Eastern League. Dominguez ends the day batting a season-best .243 on the season.
C Ben Rice (3-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2B, SB) brought home two runs with a double in the 2nd, extending Somerset's lead to 4-0. Rice's registered multiple hits for the sixth time in 15 games with Somerset and second straight game.
RF Elijah Dunham (2-for-4, 3 RBI, 2 2B) got the scoring started with an RBI double in the 1st, later adding a two-run double in the 9th.
Tuesday marked Dunham's second multi-RBI game and seventh multi-hit game in 25 Double-A games this season.
