Harrisburg Senators News Release


The Harrisburg Senators beat the Akron RubberDucks 4-3 Tuesday night at FNB Field. Akron scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning but the Senators rebounded with two of their own in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead. They extended the lead to 3-1 in the second before Akron tied the game in the fourth. The Senators took the lead in the fifth and held on thanks to stellar pitching. Mitchell Parker earned the win and struck out thirteen batters.

The Big Play

With the score tied in the bottom of the fifth inning, James Wood doubled into the left field corner and when the ball was bobbled, Trey Lipscomb scored all the way from first to give the Senators a 4-3 lead.

On Capitol Hill

Mitchell Parker struck out 13 batters in six innings of work to earn his eighth win for the Senators. The first six outs recorded by Parker were via strikeouts and he finished his outing by striking out the side in the sixth inning. The 13 strikeouts by Parker are a career high... Jack Sinclair, Garvin Alston and Nash Walters combined to pitch the final three innings without allowing a run or a hit. Walters earned his second save in as many games.

With the Gavel

James Wood went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs... Brady House and Frankie Tostado both had two hits... Tostado had a double and scored a run.

Filibusters

The Senators had 17 base runners in the game but went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position... Defensively the Sens played their 57th errorless game... The 16 strikeouts match a season high for the Senators... The time of the game was 2:36... The attendance was 4,890.

The Senators and Akron RubberDucks play game two of their six-game series Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Stations 96.5 FM, 95.3 FM, and 1400 AM beginning at 6:15 p.m.
